Filipino star Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres is from Sindangan, in the Zamboanga del Norte province of the Philippines, from which she derived her unusual nickname. Born to a family of farmers, she grew up in humble circumstances and didn’t pick up martial arts until she was a teenager. Dreaming of a brighter future, Torres moved to Manila in search of better employment opportunities and soon discovered boxing and mixed martial arts.
After finding that training gave her more confidence, discipline, and self-control, she fell in love with martial arts and decided to turn professional. Torres currently sharpens her skills under the watchful eye of famed Filipino Wushu World Champion and ONE veteran Rene Catalan. After a successful professional debut, she found her way to ONE Championship in 2017.
In a stunning upset, she submitted Thai star Rika Ishige in front of her home crowd in Thailand, and announced her arrival on the global stage in perfect fashion. She followed that up with two more wins over top talents in the ONE cage, and now that she has achieved international stardom, is determined to improve the lives of her family with her achievements.
