Nattawut Vs. Yusupov Added To ONE 159; Lineup Updated

Jo Nattawut faces Jamal Yusupov at ONE 159 on July 22

It’s officially event week, and the stars are flying into Singapore to compete at ONE 159: De Ridder vs. Bigdash on Friday, July 22.

While the spectacle’s main card remains intact, there have been some pivotal changes to the lead card.

Now headlining the lead card will be a featherweight Muay Thai clash between #5-ranked contender Jamal Yusupov and former WMC Muay Thai World Champion “Smokin” Jo Nattawut.

Yusupov has been decisive in his brief ONE Championship run so far, knocking out Thai legend Yodsanklai Fairtex and ripping through former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix finalist Samy Sana.

At the Singapore Indoor Stadium, he’ll look to extend his streak. But that will be immensely difficult against the powerful Nattawut, who has yet to lose a Muay Thai fight during his four-year tenure with the world’s largest martial arts organization.

Thai sensation Sinsamut Klinmee was originally scheduled to headline the lead card opposite former ONE World Title challenger Islam Murtazaev, but the Russian was forced to withdraw from the contest due to a family emergency.

Replacing him will be Liam Nolan, who is riding a four-bout winning streak. The British striker knocked out South Korea’s Kim Kyung Lock with a barrage of knees in just 62 seconds this past March, which earned him a US$50,000 performance bonus.

The lead card was also scheduled to feature a submission grappling match between promotional newcomers Jessa Khan and Amanda Alequin. Unfortunately, Alequin was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed medical issue, so the bout has been removed.

Also, the heavyweight MMA showdown between Anderson “Braddock” Silva and Mikhail Jamal Abdul-Latif has been removed from the show. Abdul-Latif suffered an injury, which forced his withdrawal from the contest.

Take a look at the updated lineup for ONE 159 below.
