Combat Sambo World Champion Raimond Magomedaliev is from Makhachkala, the capital of the rugged Russian republic of Dagestan. Like most youths from his region, he started freestyle wrestling from a young age, and later ventured into other disciplines including combat sambo.
During his time in the Russian military, he competed extensively in several disciplines, winning multiple prestigious titles including World Championships in combat sambo, kung fu sanda, and hand-to-hand combat. However, it wasn’t until he first saw mixed martial arts on television that he decided he wanted to pursue martial arts as a career.
Magomedaliev made his professional mixed martial arts debut debut in 2015, and remains undefeated with almost all of his bouts to date ending by way of stoppage. This includes a stunning 17-second finish, where he knocked out a more experienced veteran while standing on one leg after his opponent caught a kick. He fully expects to extend his perfect record on the global stage of ONE Championship, and has even set his sights on capturing ONE World Championships in two divisions.
