Indonesian Karate Champion Aziz Calim’s martial arts journey first began with Shotokan Karate at the age of 10 in his native Saudi Arabia. Upon moving to Indonesia as a teenager, he went in search of a boxing gym to increase his martial arts knowledge, which led to a fortuitous meeting with famed Indonesian martial artist and coach Yohan Mulia Legowo.
Calim quickly found a home at Legowo’s Han Academy, where he added boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu to his growing skill-set. The next natural step for him as a martial artist was to test his skills in mixed martial arts, and he has so far been successful in the cage, compiling a respectable winning record competing on the local Indonesian scene.
He now makes the jump to ONE Championship to represent Indonesia in the world’s largest martial arts organization, and is thrilled at the prospect of testing himself against the best martial artists on the planet.
