‘Use His Strength To My Advantage’ – Saw Min Min Aims To Negate Yodlekpet’s Best Weapon At ONE Friday Fights 157
Before he attempts to derail one of the division’s most feared knockout artists, Saw Min Min believes the biggest battle will be resisting his own instincts.
The Myanmar striker will face four-time Muay Thai World Champion Yodlekpet “The Destroyer” Or Atchariya in the flyweight Muay Thai main event of ONE Friday Fights 157, airing live in Asia primetime on Friday, June 5, from Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
Representing Doe Yoe Yar Lethwei Club, Saw Min Min enters the matchup with a 15-2 professional record and a reputation for aggressive, action-packed performances. But after suffering a costly setback in his most recent outing at ONE Friday Fights 141, the former Lethwei standout now believes patience could be the key to the biggest win of his career.
Determined to score a quick knockout, the Myanmar native rushed into exchanges and paid the price after getting caught clean. Looking back, he admits the defeat was entirely avoidable.
He said:
“My biggest mistake in that fight was being too impatient and reckless. My plan from the start was to charge forward and look for a knockout as quickly as possible.
“The first mistake was getting caught with a head kick. The second mistake was even worse. As soon as I got up, I stood up immediately even though my body hadn’t fully recovered yet.”
Rather than dwelling on the loss, however, Saw Min Min used it as motivation.
He sharpened both his body and mind through training camps overseas before completing a three-week camp near his birthplace.
He said:
“After that fight, I trained extremely hard. I spent time training in Poland, and more recently I completed a full three-week training camp in Mae Sot, near the Myanmar border and close to my hometown.
“Right now, both my body and my mind are 100 percent ready for this fight.”
Saw Min Min Believes He Can Knock Out ‘The Destroyer’
The challenge awaiting Saw Min Min this Friday is one of the toughest in the division.
Yodlekpet Or Atchariya has earned his nickname “The Destroyer” through years of relentless pressure and knockout power. The Sor Sommai and Silk Muay Thai representative owns a 94-39 professional record, has captured four Muay Thai World Titles, and has scored six knockouts in ONE Championship.
Most recently, the 31-year-old rallied from behind to stop Gingsanglek Wor Kumchamnarn in the third round this past March, extending his winning streak to two fights.
Saw Min Min knows exactly what he’s up against:
“I see Yodlekpet as an incredibly strong and durable fighter. He’s tough like an iron man.
“His most dangerous weapon is his left hand because he’s a southpaw. He also has very dangerous elbows. Those are the weapons I absolutely cannot afford to underestimate.”
Despite Yodlekpet’s reputation, Saw Min Min does not plan to meet pressure with pressure.
Instead, he intends to let the Thai veteran come forward and use that aggression against him.
He explained:
“For this fight, my preparation has been focused on being calmer and more patient. I definitely won’t be reckless like I was in my last fight.
“My main strategy is to counter on the second beat. I’ll let Yodlekpet be the one who comes forward and initiates the action, then I’ll use my accuracy to counter him with clean shots.”
The Myanmar striker believes that approach could ultimately create the opening he needs.
By staying disciplined and refusing to get drawn into a reckless firefight, Saw Min Min is confident he can capitalize on the mistakes that naturally come when an aggressive opponent pushes the pace.
He concluded:
“I need to use his strength to my advantage. If he’s eager to pressure me and come forward, I’ll stay composed and wait for him to throw first.
“Then I’ll use his own momentum and impact against him, turning it into powerful counterattacks aimed at the most important targets. I truly believe that I will knock him out in this fight.”
