Malaysian Boxing Champion Hisyam Samsudin was born in Brumas, a settlement deep in the jungles of Sabah, but moved to a small city called Tawau when he was a child. After finishing school, he relocated to Kota Kinabalu in 2007, and began training in martial arts under famed coach AJ Lias Mansor at Borneo Tribal Squad alongside the likes of ONE superstar Ann Osman.
Samsudin would go on to compete in in many local and state-level amateur boxing tournaments, winning several medals along the way. He made his professional boxing debut in 2016, and captured the WBF Asia-Pacific Light Heavyweight title by stopping one of Singapore’s best boxers. Spurred by this success, he intensified his training, and made his professional cage debut in Thailand in 2014, winning via first-round TKO.
After debuting on the global stage in 2016 with ONE Championship, Samsudin faced the toughest test of his career in Jakarta, when he had to compete a mere day after his father tragically passed away in his hotel room. Samsudin did his father proud, scoring a first-round TKO in an incredibly emotional win.
