Filipino featherweight contender Edward Kelly is the younger brother of top ONE featherweight Eric Kelly, and possesses a similar skill set and drive. He has a base in wushu, excellent takedowns, and a strong ground game, which he showcased by amassing an impressive five-bout win streak upon making his professional debut in 2007.
However, that martial arts talent might have gone to waste when Kelly walked away from competition in 2009, as the pressures of providing for his family forced him to take a regular job. In 2012, that all changed when he saw his older brother Eric beat Mitch Chilson at ONE Championship’s inaugural show in Singapore, and he was inspired to return.
He subsequently made his ONE Championship debut in 2013, and currently trains at the famed Team Lakay alongside the likes of former ONE World Champions Eduard Folayang and Honorio Banario. With several impressive finishes against the world’s best on his record, Kelly has emerged as a contender in his own right, and even owns the fastest knockout in ONE featherweight history at a blistering 21 seconds.
