‘Winning Is The Only Option’ – Jaosuayai Returns To Familiar Ground Against Yuan Pengjie At The Inner Circle On June 5
After bouncing between two divisions, Jaosuayai Mor Krungthepthonburi believes he has finally found his weight class.
The 24-year-old Sor Dechapan representative will face Yuan Pengjie in a flyweight kickboxing showdown at The Inner Circle on Friday, June 5, streaming live exclusively for members at live.onefc.com from Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium.
The matchup arrives at a pivotal moment in Jaosuayai’s career. Despite compiling an impressive 60-25 professional record and earning eight victories in ONE Championship, including six finishes, the Thai striker enters on a skid for the first time in years.
But rather than viewing those setbacks as a crisis of confidence, Jaosuayai believes they helped reveal a much simpler problem.
According to him, the constant effort of preparing for both flyweight and strawweight eventually took a toll on his body. Although his most recent defeat to Pompet PongSuphan PK came at flyweight, Jaosuayai believes the effects of those fluctuations had begun catching up with him.
He said:
“Going into the Pompet fight, my game plan was solid. But once we got in there, I was severely disadvantaged in terms of raw impact and strength. My body hadn’t properly adjusted yet because I had just moved up from strawweight.
“As the fight dragged on, I just couldn’t handle his power. By the final round, I was basically fighting on pure heart alone before the referee stepped in and called it a TKO.”
That explanation may surprise fans who remember the version of Jaosuayai that stormed through ONE Championship.
Before the recent setback, the Thai standout posted an 8-2 record across his first 10 appearances in the promotion. Along the way, he earned a six-figure contract with a statement victory over Denis Puric and followed it with a spectacular head-kick knockout of Nakrob Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 32.
Now, after spending the last two years testing himself across two divisions, Jaosuayai believes he has arrived at a permanent solution.
He explained:
“My team and I have finally found our answer: strawweight is just not for me. From here on out, I’m planning to focus in the flyweight division for the long haul. I am done with strawweight.
“Right now, my body has fully recovered, and my weight is completely dialed into the division. I’m highly confident that power and impact won’t be an issue in this fight.”
Jaosuayai Returns To Kickboxing With Renewed Confidence
For the first time in nearly five years, Jaosuayai Mor Krungthepthonburi will compete under kickboxing rules, a discipline he has wanted to revisit ever since joining ONE Championship.
Long before becoming one of ONE Friday Fights’ most entertaining athletes, he built a reputation in Japan, where he competed six times and enjoyed success against experienced kickboxers. The highlight came during his kickboxing debut, when he advanced all the way to the final of a K-1 tournament after defeating two opponents on the same night.
He said:
“I am incredibly excited and hyped. This marks my return to kickboxing after five years away. Honestly, I’ve been wanting to fight under this rule set in ONE for a very long time. I even asked the promotion for the opportunity back when I first debuted, and I’m just grateful to finally get the nod.
“My confidence under this rule set is through the roof. I once beat two elite kickboxers in a single night to secure the K-1 World Grand Prix Championship runner-up spot.”
The Thai believes the rule set allows him to maximize his speed and creativity without worrying about elbows, clinch exchanges, or having his kicks caught.
Perhaps most importantly, fans should expect a more composed version of the fighter who occasionally fights with his heart on his sleeve. This time, he plans to trust his logic as much as his instincts.
He concluded:
“In this fight, you’re going to see a much more composed and patient version of me. I’m going to use my fight IQ rather than letting emotion dictate the pace like I did in my recent losses.
“In my entire career, I have never lost four fights in a row, and I will be damned if I let that happen now. Winning is the only option. I need to restore the fans’ faith in me and prove that I still belong on the global stage.”
