Nico Carrillo Locked In For ONE Kickboxing Debut Against Zhou Jiaqiang At ONE Fight Night 46

Scottish Muay Thai fighter Nico Carrillo gets ready for battle

Reigning ONE Interim Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Nico “King of the North” Carrillo is ready to conquer a second striking discipline, and he is wasting no time getting started.

The Scottish knockout artist makes his promotional kickboxing debut against Chinese newcomer Zhou Jiaqiang in a featherweight kickboxing bout at ONE Fight Night 46 on Prime Video on Friday, August 14, from the prestigious Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, live in U.S. primetime.

Carrillo’s rise through ONE Championship has been built entirely on destruction. The 27-year-old Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy product carries a 30-4 career record with 16 finishes and a 7-1 promotional slate into this contest.

“King of the North” made his ONE debut by securing two epic knockouts over Furkan Karabag and Muangthai PK Saenchai that earned him the coveted US$100,000 main roster contract.

Then he continued his rampage with devastating stoppages of former longtime ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama and Saemapetch Fairtex, performances that announced him as a genuine force at the striking art’s highest level.

A first interim title shot against towering Algerian-Thai Nabil Anane ended in a TKO defeat that briefly halted his momentum, but Carrillo responded with characteristic resolve. He moved up to featherweight and immediately thrived, delivering knockout victories over Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong and Luke “The Chef” Lessei to earn another interim title opportunity.

At ONE Fight Night 40 in February, he defeated Thai veteran Shadow Mavinn to claim the ONE Interim Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship and achieve the dream he had been chasing since his promotional debut. The Scotsman now holds 26 pounds of gold and the confidence of a fighter who has proven he can compete and finish opponents at the very top level.

Now, with the interim strap secured, Carrillo sets his sights on a new frontier. His promotional kickboxing debut at ONE Fight Night 46 represents the next step in an evolution that could eventually see one of Muay Thai’s most dangerous strikers add kickboxing gold to his collection.

Standing across from him is Zhou, a Chinese newcomer making his own high-profile ONE Championship debut.

A victory over the reigning ONE Interim Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion in his first promotional appearance would instantly elevate Zhou to a position of serious relevance in the featherweight kickboxing division and put the entire roster on notice that a new and dangerous name has arrived.
