The Inner Circle 27 Results: Komawut Grinds Out Win, Dalian Dawody Notches Second Straight Finish
Fight fans got their money’s worth before the marquee matchup even arrived at The Inner Circle 27 this past Friday, August 21, as three spirited Muay Thai battles and a lightning-quick kickboxing bout set the tone inside Bangkok’s revered Lumpinee Stadium.
Streaming exclusively for subscribers at live.onefc.com in Asia primetime, the undercard delivered plenty of drama in its own right ahead of Songchainoi “Mini-Hulk” Kiatsongrit and Banluelok Sitwatcharachai‘s atomweight Muay Thai main event showdown.
Here’s how the night unfolded before that high-stakes battle.
Komawut Digs Deep, Secures Pivotal Win
In a bantamweight Muay Thai co-main event bout, Komawut FA Group weathered a relentless body attack and answered fire with fire, out-working Kyaw Swar Win with sharp elbows to earn a split decision victory.
Kyar Swar Win set the tone from the opening bell, staying on the front foot and blasting his opponent with body kicks. Komawut was forced into a counter role for much of the frame, but he held his ground when it mattered, cracking elbows through the Myanmarese fighter’s guard whenever the opportunity presented itself.
The pace stayed high in round two as Kyar Swar Win continued firing cannonball punches into the FA Group affiliate’s stomach. But the Thai refused to back down, countering with more elbows that opened up damage of his own, and both fighters wore the effects of the exchange.
By round three, Kyar Swar Win kept returning to the body despite the crimson waterfall pouring down his forehead, but Komawut dug deep to fend off the advance and close the show on his feet. The judges were split, but Komawut’s activity with the elbow proved decisive, improving him to 54-20.
Yodphupa, Dowdy, Longstaff Blitz The Competition
Yodphupa Petkiatpet edged out Saw Min Min via unanimous decision in a Muay Thai bantamweight bout. Yodphupa rallied back after a scorching first round to take the scorecards, bumping his record to 72-15.
In lightweight Muay Thai action, Dalian “Deadly” Dawody finished Lamin “Desert Lion” Souayah at 2:00 of round one by TKO after scoring three knockdowns. A knee secured the first knockdown, while a left punch and a straight right scored the second and third knockdowns, respectively. Dawody’s slate now stands at 11-3.
Last but not least, Englishman Ben Longstaff defeated Kazuteru Yamazaki via TKO due to three knockdowns in a round at 1:44 of round one in a flyweight kickboxing bout. The first knockdown came via a knee to the liver, with the following two by body shots. The Brit’s fierce promotional debut improved his record to 20-2.
