Epic World Title Rematch To Headline ONE’s First Show Of 2020

Rodtang Jitmuangnon strikes as Jonathan Haggerty blocks at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES.

ONE Championship is kicking off the decade with an extraordinary card, which is topped by a massive World Title rematch.

The world’s largest martial arts organization will return to the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday, 10 January with ONE: A NEW TOMORROW, the first show of its 2020 calendar of live events.

In the main event, ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon will defend his coveted belt in a rematch against former titleholder Jonathan “The General” Haggerty.

An emotional Rodtang Jitmuangnon drops to his knees as World Champion in Manila.

The first time these two athletes met was in the co-main event of ONE: DAWN OF HEROES in Manila, Philippines back in August.

Haggerty, then-reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion, defended the gold against the surging Thai in an explosive back-and-forth five-round affair.

Although the Englishman used his long limbs and sharp striking to control the opening two stanzas, Rodtang took over midway into the bout. His trademark low kicks, heavy fists, and forward-pressure led him to a unanimous decision victory — and, subsequently, the belt.

The roles will be reversed when these warriors meet in the rematch in January.

Rodtang will make his first World Title defense at home and will not want to disappoint his compatriots. Meanwhile, Haggerty — who felt like he deserved the nod — will have his shot at redemption.

ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex attacks Bi Nguyen in November 2019

Also, ONE Atomweight Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex will continue her quest towards three-sport World Title gold.

The Thai star closed 2019 with a pair of impressive mixed martial arts wins over Asha “Knockout Queen” Roka and Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen.

Now, she hopes to get the decade started on solid footing, as she is scheduled to face Indian wushu champion Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar.

The last time “The Cyclone” engaged in mixed martial arts competition, she defeated surging Indonesian contender Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol via split decision in her opponent’s hometown.

Tomar will have the chance to spoil both Stamp’s homecoming and her perfect mixed martial arts record in their three-round women’s atomweight battle.
