Nong-O To Defend World Title Against Jonathan Haggerty At ONE Fight Night 9 On April 21

Nong-O Gaiyangahadao is declared winner at ONE Fight Night 1

Nong-O Hama‘s next ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title defense has been announced for Friday, April 21.

The Thai legend – previously known as Nong-O Gaiyanghadao – has blasted his way through the division’s top-ranked contenders.

Now, he will get a fresh challenge from former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video.

Nong-O is in the midst of an epic hot streak.

He most recently scored a third-round knockout over Alaverdi Ramazanov at ONE Friday Fights 1 in January, improving his perfect ONE Championship record to 10-0 with five straight finishes.

That win also bolstered Nong-O’s status as the most dominant striking World Champion in ONE history, with seven successful defenses of his crown since he first acquired it in February 2019.

The 36-year-old seems to defy time and looks stronger with each outing, while his last defeat came eight years ago in 2015.

Meanwhile, Haggerty put together an incredible resume at flyweight before his recent move to the heavier weight class.

With wins over the likes of Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Joseph Lasiri – plus a pair of epic World Title battles with current flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang Jitmuangnon – the Englishman has proven that he can go toe-to-toe with the best of the best.

“The General” then earned a hard-fought split decision over Vladimir Kuzmin last time out, and his victory in that 148-pound catchweight encounter will give him added confidence that he can hang with bigger opponents at bantamweight.

Both Nong-O and Haggerty are heavy hitters, and although the defending titleholder stopped more of his rivals in recent outings, the challenger is plenty dangerous with his fists and elbows.

With so much firepower inside the Circle, fans can expect an epic clash for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title on April 21.
