Tawanchai Vacates Featherweight Muay Thai World Title, Nico Carrillo Elevated To Undisputed Divisional King

Scottish knockout artist Nico Carrillo lets the emotions flow after claiming the interim title

Tawanchai PK Saenchai has officially vacated his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title, clearing the way for the division to move forward while he continues to rehab an injury.

As a result, Scottish knockout machine Nico “King of the North” Carrillo has been elevated from interim kingpin to undisputed ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion.

Tawanchai’s reign as ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion was defined by the kind of brilliance that comes along only once in a generation.

The 27-year-old PK Saenchai Muaythaigym product made his ONE debut in 2021 before announcing himself to the world in stunning fashion at ONE 161 in 2022, defeating Petchmorakot in a grueling five-round war to claim the featherweight Muay Thai crown.

What followed was one of the most dominant title reigns in the division’s history. He successfully defended his belt against Jamal Yusupov and reigning ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon twice. He also defeated “Smokin” Jo Nattawut in two different sports during that time, building a 10-3 ONE record and cementing his legacy as one of the most stylistic and ruthless strikers the sport has ever produced.

His reign came to an unexpected halt in December 2025 when he stepped into a kickboxing matchup against Chinese legend crusher Liu “Spirit Dragon” Mengyang. A calf kick from the striker ended the contest in a shocking 52 seconds and left Tawanchai requiring surgery and an extended rehabilitation period.

Now, Carrillo steps into the role of undisputed champion having earned every pound of gold.

The 27-year-old destroyer carried a 29-4 career record and a relentless finishing instinct into his ONE Interim World Title opportunity against Thai warrior Shadow Mavinn at ONE Fight Night 40 earlier this year, outworking his rival to claim the belt and cement his place at the top of the division. He is now its undisputed king.

But the newly crowned undisputed ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion will waste no time expanding his horizons. He makes his ONE kickboxing debut against Chinese newcomer Zhou Jiaqiang at ONE Fight Night 46 on Friday, August 14, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

His ultimate ambition will be to add kickboxing gold to his collection and join the exclusive club of two-sport ONE World Champions.
