Nico Carrillo, Luke Lessei, Abdulla Dayakaev, Carlo Bumina-ang, And More Added To ONE Fight Night 37
After the announcement of two blockbuster matches, including a historic World Title main event showdown, ONE Championship has added four more bouts to the already stacked ONE Fight Night 37 on Prime Video card.
These high-octane contests will go down live in U.S. primetime on Friday, November 7, from Bangkok, Thailand.
The quartet of exciting matchups features seasoned veterans, bright young talents, and knockout artists across multiple weight classes, all promising to deliver fireworks in the November thriller.
Nico Carrillo Vs. Luke Lessei
In a featherweight Muay Thai clash, #4-ranked contender Nico “King of the North” Carrillo returns to face American crowd-pleaser Luke “The Chef” Lessei.
After making his successful promotional debut in the featherweight Muay Thai division in 2023, Carrillo dropped to bantamweight and finished Thai stars Muangthai PK Saenchai, Nong-O Hama, and Saemapetch Fairtex – all by knockout, all in the second round.
That earned the Scottish powerhouse a crack at the gold. However, after suffering a shocking defeat to Nabil Anane for the ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 170 earlier this January, Carrillo returned to the featherweight division and bounced back in spectacular fashion.
Carrillo’s return to featherweight in April resulted in a stunning knockout of eight-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, proving his power translates across weight classes.
Standing across the ring from him will be Lessei, a 29-year-old Iowa native whose captivating style has made him a fan favorite.
“The Chef” announced his arrival to the global stage with an impressive debut against Thai veteran “Smokin” Jo Nattawut at ONE Fight Night 17 in December 2023. Though he fell to the former ONE World Title challenger in a thrilling three-round war, the bout instantly established him as a fighter to watch.
After beating compatriot Eddie Abasolo by split decision and then suffering a setback against Bampara Kouyate in 2024, Lessei rebounded with authority, as he crushed Canada’s Cody Jerome via first-round TKO at ONE Fight Night 27 this past January.
Now, the American looks to earn the biggest victory of his career and leapfrog Carrillo in the top-five divisional rankings.
Nakrob Fairtex Vs. Jacob Smith
The spotlight will also shine on the flyweight Muay Thai division, as Thai veteran Nakrob Fairtex squares off against British brawler Jacob Smith.
Nakrob owns a 69-23 professional record, and he holds notable victories over the likes of well-established strikers Muangthai, Dedduanglek Wankhongohm MBK, and Tagir Khalilov.
He even kicked off the year on solid ground by stopping Puengluang Baanramba in 82 seconds and taking the #5 spot in the flyweight Muay Thai rankings.
However, Jaosuayai Mor Krungthepthonburi shattered his momentum, as he knocked out the 26-year-old dynamo at ONE Fight Night 32 this past June. Now, Nakrob is motivated to get back into the winner’s circle and prove he deserves to be among the division’s elite.
But Smith, the 33-year-old former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title challenger, is also looking to get his back off the wall.
The Bad Company and Thaifist representative made an immediate impression in his promotional debut, going the full three rounds with Thai megastar Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE 157 in May 2022.
After knocking out Brazil’s Walter Goncalves in December 2023, Smith endured a difficult 2024, as he suffered hard-fought decision losses to Denis Puric and later Rodtang in their World Championship rematch.
For the Englishman, this bout with Nakrob represents a chance for him to recapture his glory and show that he still has what it takes to compete for ONE World Title gold.
Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon Vs. Abdulla Dayakaev
In addition to those battles, there will be a spectacular clash between top-five bantamweight Muay Thai contenders, as #4-ranked Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon and #5-ranked Abdulla Dayakaev go head-to-head in the center of the ring.
At just 22 years old, Rambolek has already established himself as one of Thailand’s most promising talents. The Superbon Training Camp product is riding a four-bout winning streak, which includes victories over Soner Sen, Craig Coakley, Parham Gheirati, and Dmitrii Kovtun.
The Thai phenom, who holds a 66-14 career record, possesses an exceptional skill set and incredibly high fight IQ, and he holds the distinction as the first athlete to earn a six-figure contract from the ONE Friday Fights event series.
Dayakaev, however, brings Dagestani striking excellence to this matchup. The Team Mehdi Zatout star earned his US$100,000 contract by flatlining Italy’s Alessio Malatesta in the first round at ONE Friday Fights 96 this past February.
Since joining the global roster, the 23-year-old Russian has been unstoppable, knocking out Saemapetch in their bantamweight Muay Thai clash at ONE Fight Night 31 in May and Nontachai Jitmuangnon in their featherweight Muay Thai tilt at ONE Fight Night 33 in July.
Given the firepower in both strikers’ hands, this fight may not go the distance.
Carlo Bumina-ang Vs. Elbek Alyshov
There will be more bantamweight action, but it will go down in the MMA arena, as Team Lakay’s Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang meets undefeated destroyer Elbek Alyshov.
Bumina-ang, who holds an 8-1 record, made a name for himself at ONE Friday Fights, where he rattled off five straight wins to earn a six-figure contract in May 2024.
Though the division’s #4-ranked contender Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu handed “The Bull” his first professional blemish, the 31-year-old Filipino rebounded with back-to-back first-round TKO victories.
Bumina-ang has his work cut out for him, as Alyshov owns a spotless 9-0 record and an 89 percent finishing rate.
The 26-year-old Azerbaijani-Russian bulldozer displayed his brilliant skills in his promotional debut, dominating Jeremy “The Jaguar” Pacatiw en route to a second-round submission victory at ONE Fight Night 34 this past August.
Alyshov now looks to make an even stronger statement against Pacatiw’s countryman and inch closer to a crack at Fabricio Andrade’s ONE Bantamweight MMA World Title.
