Elbek Alyshov

Born in Russia to Azerbaijani parents, Alyshov grew up with every comfort his father’s career could provide. Yet comfort and ease, he would learn, are not the same thing.

Alyshov stepped onto the mats at just six years old, immersing himself in judo and sambo, and he would go on to compete in more than 400 tournaments across both disciplines.

That grappling foundation runs deep. A black belt in Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, Alyshov made his professional MMA debut as an 18-year-old in 2017 and announced himself immediately with a submission victory. It proved a sign of things to come. He stayed undefeated and finished all but one of his opponents, which caught the attention of ONE Championship. The organization signed him in 2025, and he rattled off two more submission victories to prove to fans across the globe that he is a serious contender in the bantamweight MMA division.

Yet behind every one of those wins lies a battle few ever see. Since the age of 14, Alyshov has quietly managed serious chronic health conditions, competing at the highest level while enduring problems with his stomach, his throat, and more.

The contender has walked his entire path while managing illness and hardship, yet he refuses to see it as a weakness. To Alyshov, an opponent may step into the ring fresh while he battles through pain, but he believes there is something greater inside him that carries him to victory regardless of his situation.

Alyshov’s motivation stretches far beyond the gold. He dreams of providing for a family that does not yet have a home of its own, and of standing as a symbol for a nation. A ONE World Title, he believes, would be a landmark moment for the rapidly growing MMA scene in Azerbaijan and an inspiration to its next generation.
