Garry Tonon Vs. Shamil Gasanov, Ben Tynan Vs. Kirill Grishenko Added To ONE Fight Night 34 On August 1

Garry Tonon Shamil Gasanov ONE Fight Night 12 48

A pair of high-stakes MMA bouts that carry major World Title implications has been added to ONE Fight Night 34: Eersel vs. Jarvis on Prime Video.

Headlined by a massive ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship tilt, the blockbuster showcase will broadcast live in U.S. primetime from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, August 1.

In addition to the previously announced main event, the card will feature a featherweight MMA rematch between Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon and Shamil “The Cobra” Gasanov, as well as an explosive heavyweight MMA battle between Ben “Vanilla Thunder” Tynan and Kirill Grishenko.

Tonon and Gasanov first met in the summer of 2023 at ONE Fight Night 12 in a matchup between two of MMA’s most talented grapplers and dangerous submission wizards.

In that contest, “The Lion Killer” weathered an early storm before finding a painful kneebar submission in the second round, handing the Russian star the first and only defeat of his professional career.

A lot has transpired since then.

The American BJJ icon picked up another submission victory over former two-division ONE World Champion Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen in January 2024. Meanwhile, Gasanov has enjoyed an incredible four-bout winning streak against top-flight competition.

Both men now find themselves on a collision course yet again, and whoever emerges victorious from this clash could become the next person to challenge for Tang Kai‘s ONE Featherweight MMA World Title.

Before that, the global fan base will get to witness a monstrous showdown between Tynan and Grishenko that promises to deliver fireworks for as long as it lasts.

A powerhouse wrestler with plenty of charisma, the Canadian-born, American-trained Tynan owns a spotless professional and amateur record with a 100 percent finishing rate. What’s more, nearly all of his finishes have come in the first round.

“Vanilla Thunder” could have all the makings of a future ONE World Champion, but he’ll face his toughest test to date at ONE Fight Night 34.

For his part, Grishenko is a world-class wrestler who has recently proven to be a supremely dangerous striker.

Back in 2022, the towering Belarusian came up short against Anatoly “Sladkiy” Malykhin in his bid for the ONE Interim Heavyweight MMA World Title. However, he will enter this clash with the Canadian on a two-fight winning streak, most recently stopping Mauro Cerilli via leg kicks.

While Malykhin is currently angling for a rematch with reigning heavyweight MMA king “Reug Reug” Oumar Kane, both Tynan and Grishenko hope to establish themselves as the next man up to challenge for 26 pounds of gold.
