‘From 4G To 5G’ – Rambong Ready To Deliver A New Era Against Sornsueknoi At The Inner Circle 18

Rambong Sor Therapat prepares for his clash against Longern Sor Sommai at ONE Friday Fights 77.

Thai striking machine Rambong Sor Therapat has spent his entire professional career walking straight through the fire. When he steps into the ring at The Inner Circle 18, he fully intends to emerge from the flames as a much smarter, highly evolved competitor.

The 29-year-old veteran faces Sornsueknoi FA Group in a blockbuster flyweight Muay Thai co-main event at Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, June 12. The complete Asia primetime card will be broadcast live and exclusively to subscribers at live.onefc.com.

Rambong arrives at this high-stakes showdown hunting for the 84th victory of a career defined by relentless forward pressure and an unshakeable will to engage. However, the path to this exact moment has not been without its turbulence.

The Thai star enjoyed a spectacular seven-fight winning streak in ONE Championship before suffering back-to-back defeats against Suriyanlek Por Yenying and Stephen “El Matador” Irvine, bringing his massive momentum to a sudden halt.

While two consecutive victories have since steadied the ship, the grueling process of confronting those defeats head-on ultimately forged the fighter who will step onto the global stage later this week.

The Rambong Muay Thai head honcho told onefc.com:

“When I lost those two fights back-to-back, I was completely discouraged. I was seriously thinking whether I should keep going or just call it quits. But my confidence came back because I’ve improved myself.

“I trained hard through what felt like a two-fight nightmare. I really wanted to rebuild my form. Looking back at those losses, I realized I need to adjust the power of my strikes because my weapons haven’t been heavy enough.”

The internal diagnosis was crystal clear. However, his ultimate remedy does not involve abandoning the aggressive, crowd-pleasing identity that carried him through 83 career victories.

What has fundamentally changed is the tactical thinking behind that aggression — a calculated shift toward becoming a fighter who uses his mind just as deliberately as his fists.

He continued:

“Yes, I have been focused on sharpening my knockout power, but I also know that I have to fight smart. You can’t rely on pure physical strength alone; you have to use your brain.

“As I get older, I want to prolong my career as much as possible, so this time I’m going to use my brain to solve the game. [I may be known] as crazy, but I have the ring IQ and a lot of tricks up my sleeve. I’ll probably play a technical game mixed with some aggression.”

That precise blend of sharpened power and heightened tactical awareness is exactly what Rambong believes is tailor-made for the massive challenge Sornsueknoi presents.

The FA Group representative recently demonstrated the kind of devastating finishing instinct that demands immediate respect, dispatching Nuapet Torfunfarm via TKO in the second round of his last outing. But Rambong is absolutely not approaching this matchup as a simple contest of firepower.

Instead, he sees it as a high-speed chess match, and it is one he remains supremely confident he can win:

“He has heavy weapons. He is probably physically stronger than me, too. So, I can’t underestimate him at all. But we are very similar and have the same style. I’m an aggressive fighter, and he always moves forward to fight.

“This fight is going to be all about who fights smarter. But you could call this a new era of Rambong – I’ll be using more IQ and [showcase] better techniques.”

Rambong Details His Plan To Outfox Sornsueknoi

The talking is almost done. Now, Rambong Sor Therapat must perfectly execute the blueprint he has designed to overcome his fellow countryman on June 12.

His strategy for Sornsueknoi FA Group is built entirely on the capacity to read, adapt, and solve his opponent in real-time. For a brawler who has always thrived on pure instinct and forward pressure, that kind of measured, evolving approach signals something genuinely dangerous.

He shared:

“I’ll feel him out first to see what kind of game he brings into this fight. Then, I will adjust my game plan round by round. My confidence is back, so I’m not worried about the doubters who question if I can still fight.

“You’re going to see a whole new version of Rambong, upgrading from 4G to 5G with way more ring intelligence. I’ll give it everything I have. I’m going to win even more fights than before.”

Beyond Sornsueknoi, though, one specific name continues to occupy a dark corner of Rambong’s mind.

Stephen Irvine ended their ONE Friday Fights 128 encounter in brutal fashion. The Scotsman walked away with a US$100,000 contract and a main roster spot, while Rambong walked away with a bitter score to settle.

For now, however, the only score that matters is the one that will be decided inside the Circle at The Inner Circle 18.

The Thai striker concluded:

“I really want a rematch with him because that loss is stuck in my head and keeps me up at night. It was such a quick knockout. That first fight was over way too fast before we could even really trade blows, so I want to ask for a rematch.

“But for now, my focus is on my next opponent. To Sornsueknoi, let’s go out there and give it our all. I won’t be holding anything back.”
