Danny Kingad Wants ‘One More Shot’ At Demetrious Johnson

Filipino martial artist Danny Kingad gets ready to face Demetrious Johnson

There are several highly regarded athletes who desperately want the next chance to dethrone ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes.

But not Danny “The King” Kingad. There’s some unfinished business he wants to settle first.

Kingad, the #2-ranked flyweight mixed martial arts contender, is calling for “one more shot” against the last man to beat him – pound-for-pound great Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.

The Filipino star expressed that sentiment in his most recent social media post.

“I will definitely be back stronger,” Kingad wrote on Instagram. “It’s been close to two years since we last two fought, and a lot has already happened in our own careers. I’m more than ready to take on DJ again.”

Johnson originally met Kingad in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Championship Final at ONE: CENTURY PART I during October 2019.

“The King” was aggressive from the start, but the American would utilize his lightning-fast speed, freakish athleticism, and world-class grappling to earn the unanimous decision victory. With it, Johnson received the tournament’s silver belt and a shot at Moraes’ golden strap.

Things have changed dramatically since then.

Kingad rebounded with a commanding victory over Chinese standout “The Hunter” Xie Wei in a three-round thriller, while Moraes beat Johnson in April, handing the American his first career knockout loss in the process.

“Mighty Mouse” is still the top-ranked contender in the flyweight division, but “The King” wants an opportunity to avenge his loss and leapfrog his old rival for the #1 spot.

If he accomplishes that goal, the Filipino star would likely aim for a second slice of redemption against the only other man to defeat him – Moraes.

But for now, it’s clear where Kingad’s head is at. Before he makes a run at the divisional king, he wants to take out the flyweight GOAT.

“Mighty Mouse” and “The King” will compete in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prox Championship Final
