The talent-stacked ONE SAMURAI 1 card just became even more loaded following the addition of two gripping Japanese MMA bouts.

Serving as the inaugural event for ONE Championship’s new monthly series in Japan, the April 29 spectacle at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena is already packed with four World Title fights and promises a grand celebration of Japanese martial arts heritage.

In one compelling flyweight MMA showdown, longtime divisional stalwart Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada welcomes highly touted Pancrase Champion Seiichiro Ito to the global stage. Meanwhile, promotional debutants Kanata Nagai and Atsubo Kambe will collide in an explosive bantamweight MMA encounter.

Serving as a reliable fixture in ONE since 2018, Wada has battled the elite at 135 pounds. His impressive resume includes clashes with former ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson and former World Title challenger Danny “The King” Kingad.

The 37-year-old veteran boasts 26 career wins, with six earned against top-tier competition in the world’s largest martial arts organization. His grinding, grappling-heavy style makes him a persistent, suffocating threat in the flyweight ranks.

Following back-to-back losses to top contenders Sanzhar “Tornado” Zakirov and Avazbek “Ninzya” Kholmirzaev, Wada returns to action with redemption on his mind and the coveted gold in his sights.

Standing opposite him is Ito, a dynamic martial artist who brings serious credentials to his promotional debut. The former Interim Flyweight King of Pancrase carries a stellar 18-4 record, with eight submission victories contributing to an impressive 79 percent overall finish rate.

The 27-year-old possesses legitimate stopping power, and his seamless blend of balanced striking, tight defense, and explosive grappling presents a fascinating stylistic contrast to Wada’s veteran savvy. Representing Shooto Gym Tokyo, Ito now aims to emphatically announce his arrival on home soil by taking out one of the division’s most respected names.

The second newly added bout features two hungry fighters representing the next wave of Japanese MMA talent.

Nagai steps onto the grandest stage of combat sports with a spotless 9-0 record built on the regional Japanese circuit — a dominant run convincing enough to earn him this coveted global invitation. The VOS Gym Tokyo representative brings sharp, polished striking to the canvas, where his crisp boxing and precise bodywork make him a genuine knockout threat every single time he competes.

His opponent, however, is equally formidable. The 26-year-old Kambe enters the fray with an 8-1 record and the kind of aggressive, well-rounded game that constantly keeps opponents guessing. Operating as an instinctive finisher with a commendable grappling base, the Hachioji native possesses the necessary tools to end fights the exact moment an opportunity arises.

Both athletes brim with immense potential, but only one will fast-track their ONE career with a definitive statement victory on April 29.
