Nico Carrillo Meets Shadow For Interim Featherweight Muay Thai World Title At ONE Fight Night 40
A second World Title showdown has been added to ONE Fight Night 40 on Prime Video, as Scottish powerhouse Nico “King of the North” Carrillo will face Thai knockout artist Shadow Singha Mawynn for the ONE Interim Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship.
This battle will air live in U.S. primetime from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, February 13, and each man will do his best to become the next person to leave the iconic arena with World Title gold.
With reigning ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai on the sidelines with a leg injury for the foreseeable future, ONE Championship has decided to keep the division moving along with two of the best strikers in the weight class.
Carrillo has been near-flawless since joining ONE Championship in April 2023.
The 27-year-old Glasgow native decimated Furkan Karabag via third-round TKO in his promotional debut at featherweight, and then he moved down a weight class and finished the beloved “Elbow Zombie” Muangthai PK Saenchai via second-round TKO to earn a six-figure contract with the promotion.
Then, Carrillo knocked out former longtime ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama and former World Title challenger Saemapetch Fairtex to earn a crack at the division’s interim gold.
However, the Scottish slugger fell to 6-foot-4 Thai-Algerian skyscraper Nabil Anane at ONE 170 in January 2025, which caused him to re-assess his ideal weight class.
Ultimately, Carrillo decided to move back up to the featherweight Muay Thai division where he felt at his healthiest and strongest, and it proved to be a fantastic decision.
The man known as “King of the North” has been unstoppable ever since, as he knocked out seven-time Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong in April 2025 and then stopped American standout Luke Lessei seven months later.
Carrillo will attempt to keep his undefeated featherweight Muay Thai campaign rolling and finally claim the World Title gold that has eluded him throughout his career.
But standing across from him at ONE Fight Night 40 is another revered knockout artist who seems to get more and more dangerous every single time he steps into the ring.
Shadow, who entered the world’s largest martial arts organization as a Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai World Champion, had a difficult start to life in ONE Championship, as he fell in his first promotional appearance in February 2024. But then, he went on a spectacular run.
The 25-year-old Bangkok resident won his next five battles over top-shelf opposition, defeating the likes of former ONE World Title challenger Jimmy Vienot, recent contract winner Mohammad Siasarani, and even Sitthichai.
But after knocking out Hassan Vahdanirad at ONE Friday Fights 100 in March 2025, Shadow earned his own six-figure contract and global roster spot with the organization.
Though his first U.S. primetime showing against Mohamed Younes Rabah ended prematurely in a no contest due to an accidental eye poke in July 2025, the Thai roared back by finishing WBC Muay Thai World Champion Bampara Kouyate with a spinning backfist two months later.
Both Carrillo and Shadow represent the finest contenders in ONE Championship’s featherweight Muay Thai division, and whoever emerges victorious will have a chance to unify the gold against Tawanchai at some point in the future.
