‘I Could Knock Out Everyone’ – Hu Yong Aims To Be The First Man To Stop Danny Kingad At ONE Fight Night 40
Hard-hitting Chinese superstar “Wolf Warrior” Hu Yong looks to return to his winning ways when he takes on Filipino MMA veteran Danny “The King” Kingad in a flyweight MMA barnburner at ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger II on Prime Video.
That night at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium, live in U.S. primetime on Friday, February 13, the 29-year-old Fighting Bros Club representative will aim to snap a two-fight skid against a highly regarded opponent.
The Beijing-based knockout artist is currently sitting at 8-3 in ONE Championship. He has experienced both the highs and lows that come with competing against the elite in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Against the 30-year-old Kingad, Hu is presented with a golden opportunity to prove that his best days are still very much ahead of him.
Kingad is also navigating a difficult stretch in his career, having suffered three painful setbacks in his last four outings. Both fighters enter this matchup desperate for victory, one that could reignite their World Title aspirations.
Hu expressed his determination to return to winning form. The Chinese striker told onefc.com:
“For [this] comeback fight, I am very excited. I need to secure this win to prove that I still have what it takes to compete for the championship. My opponent will definitely give it his all, and it will be an exciting showdown. I am ready for it.”
Hu’s confidence emanates from his greatest asset — striking power and technical proficiency developed through years of Sanda training. His background in this ancient discipline has provided him with stopping ability that makes him dangerous in every second of any given fight.
The 29-year-old believes his stand-up game gives him a distinct advantage against Kingad, and any man in the division.
“Wolf Warrior” explained:
“I believe my strengths lie in my stand-up striking and my never-give-up spirit. I think standing strikes are my signature strength. If I were to fight standing up, I’m confident that I could knock out everyone.”
Kingad has been active in ONE since his promotional debut in 2016, winning nine of his first 10 fights and establishing himself among the flyweight elite. The Filipino has previously faced off against legends such as Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu, and Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
Hu acknowledges Kingad’s veteran savvy and diverse skill set, and he has identified what he perceives as a critical weakness in the Lions Nation MMA representative’s game.
The Beijing native shared his assessment:
“My opponent’s advantage is his extensive experience and well-rounded skills, but at the same time, he lacks a signature finishing move.”
Hu Targets Historic Knockout And Wakamatsu Rematch
Hu Yong has spent considerable time visualizing exactly how his next fight could unfold.
Danny Kingad has proven to be a difficult opponent to finish. He has never been knocked out despite facing the division’s hardest hitters. That durability has allowed the Filipino to compete at the highest level for nearly a decade.
That being said, Hu believes he possesses the power and precision necessary to accomplish what no man has done before against “The King.”
“Wolf Warrior” explained:
“My prediction is that the fight will go the full three rounds, with me emerging victorious. Since my opponent will likely engage in grappling exchanges, my opportunity will be to look for a KO in stand-up exchanges. He has never been knocked out before, and I want to accomplish that challenge.”

A victory over Kingad would boost Hu’s stock immensely and potentially set up the high-profile matchups he craves. The Chinese striker has already identified his next targets, including settling unfinished business with a fierce rival.
That path includes exacting revenge against reigning and undisputed ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Yuya Wakamatsu, who handed him his first defeat in the promotion years ago.
The Beijing native revealed his future plans:
“If I win this fight, I want to face someone ranked above me. I aim to earn a title shot. A few years ago, I lost to Yuya Wakamatsu, and I am eager for revenge. I will first secure this win and then strive for that opportunity.”
