Headline Fights Revealed For ONE: BATTLEGROUND II & III

FIlipino ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard Folayang

The full card for ONE: BATTLEGROUND was officially released today, but ONE Championship has even more news to announce.

The promotion also revealed the headlining bouts for the second and third installments of the event series – and fans are truly in for a treat.

Eduard Folayang lands a spinning back elbow on Amir Khan on their ONE Lightweight World Title encounter

Filipino martial arts icon Eduard “Landslide” Folayang will return against “The Warrior” Zhang Lipeng in the main event of ONE: BATTLEGROUND II, a pre-recorded show from the Singapore Indoor Stadium that airs on Friday, 13 August.

Folayang, a former three-time ONE Lightweight World Champion, is eager to prove that he’s still a force in the division, and he’s desperate to build some momentum toward a matchup with reigning lightweight king Christian “The Warrior” Lee.

Meanwhile, the recently signed Zhang spent the past seven years rebuilding his career on the Chinese mixed martial arts scene, going 21-2-1 during that stretch. Now, the veteran wants to prove he can hang with the top lightweights on the global stage, and he can make a major statement by taking out a former ONE World Champion.

In the co-main event, Alex “Little Rock” Silva will meet Zhang’s countryman Miao Li Tao.

Silva, a former ONE Strawweight World Champion and the division’s #5-ranked contender, would like to gain some redemption for his Evolve teammate Ryuto “Dragon Boy” Sawada, whom the Chinese star defeated just three months ago.

But if Miao can impressively beat a former World Champion and go 2-0 against the Evolve mega-gym, he could take the Brazilian’s coveted spot in the rankings.

The stakes will be even higher in the main event of ONE: BATTLEGROUND III, another pre-recorded show from the Singapore Indoor Stadium that airs on Friday, 27 August.

Top-ranked bantamweight Muay Thai contender Saemapetch Fairtex is close friends with #4-ranked Tawanchai PK.Saenchai Muaythaigym, but the knockout artists will put their relationship aside and collide in the night’s headlining contest.

The winner of their titanic clash will also earn a World Title shot against reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao.

Before that main event, fans will watch seasoned veteran Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke welcome newly signed Chinese star “The Prince” Banma Duoji to the Circle for a mixed martial arts battle.

Dejdamrong is a two-sport legend who earned multiple Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Championships and became the first-ever ONE Strawweight World Champion.

But Banma is one of China’s fastest-rising mixed martial arts athletes. With a 13-1 record, he plans to make a massive first impression and use the Thai icon as a stepping stone to the gold.
