‘It’s Going To Be So Crazy’ – John Wayne Parr Can’t Wait To Witness Tawanchai Vs. Superbon World Title Fight

John Wayne Parr addresses the crowd after his retirement fight at ONE X

Like millions of fans across the globe, Australian Muay Thai icon John Wayne Parr is pumped for the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title showdown between reigning king Tawanchai PK Saenchai and former featherweight kickboxing titleholder Superbon Singha Mawynn.

Slated for the main event of ONE Fight Night 15 on Prime Video and going down at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, that blockbuster contest will mark Tawanchai’s second defense of his belt in front of a roaring Thai crowd.

Before the action gets underway live in U.S. primetime on Friday, October 6, Parr spoke to onefc.com about what makes this matchup so special.

For starters, “The Gunslinger” is quick to recognize that the titleholder is coming off back-to-back bone-breaking knockouts – a leg-kick finish of Jamal Yusupov at ONE Fight Night 7 and an arm-snapping TKO of Davit Kiria in a kickboxing clash at ONE Fight Night 13.

Both of those performances, says Parr, demonstrate the thunderous power behind Tawanchai’s legendary strikes:

“Tawanchai’s form in his last two fights, stopping two different people by devastating kicks is just like, yeah, that’s unheard of. To break bones is just brutal.”

A veteran of more than 130 professional fights and a former WMC Muay Thai World Champion, the retired Australian has done and seen it all in the striking world.

But according to Parr, Tawanchai’s kicking power is something entirely different:

“His power’s insane. I’ve seen a lot of Thais train, I’ve been in camp for a long time, and then seeing him hit the pads in the Singapore hotel was just… The reality is, wow, this kid’s not normal. What he possesses is very unique.”

By that same token, Parr knows that Superbon is a special athlete in his own right.

Widely regarded among the planet’s top pound-for-pound strikers, the former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion owns a venomous high kick – the same strike he used to score a highlight-reel knockout of Tayfun Ozcan in his most recent outing.

Ultimately, “The Gunslinger” believes that weapon could be the deciding factor against Tawanchai. He spoke about what Superbon brings to the table:

Timing, power, and experience. He’s got every tick box ticked as well. He’s so elite, and one crucial mistake can be the end of the fight in the blink of an eye. Either way, they’re both as amazing as each other, so yeah, one mistake on either side is going to decide who wins or not.”

Parr Breaks Down Tawanchai Vs. Superbon

John Wayne Parr is blown away by both Tawanchai PK Saenchai and Superbon Singha Mawynn. But when they finally square off on October 6, how does he see their fight playing out?

Parr said:

“It’s going to be violent. It’s going to be so crazy. Two top, elite Thais against each other is such an amazing chance to showcase proper, real Muay Thai, champion versus champion for the Westerners that haven’t seen this competitive sort of level before.”

When Parr gets into the details of the matchup, he zeroes in on the challenger’s vicious high kick.

He says that Superbon is so dangerous with that strike due to his perfect timing, which has been honed at the highest levels of striking over the course of his incredible 149-fight career:

“He waits for the opponent to start the combination first, knowing that his hands will be down as he executes to land his hands, then land the head kick.

“It’s hard to teach experience. It’s impossible to teach experience. You have to be there and do it hundreds of times to know exactly when to execute. So yeah, Superbon’s got that gift.”

In the end, “The Gunslinger” struggles to see a clear favorite. But he knows one thing for sure – fans can expect an all-action barnburner at ONE Fight Night 15.

Parr added:

“They take so much damage and don’t show any emotion. It’s going to be very, just brutal. It’s going to be awesome. It’s going to be so much fun.”
