Wondergirl Fairtex Earns Spectacular 81-Second Knockout
Wondergirl Fairtex has officially arrived in The Home Of Martial Arts.
The 21-year-old needed less than one round to finish Brooke Farrell in their ONE Super Series Muay Thai strawweight contest at ONE: NO SURRENDER III in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, 21 August.
At the start of the opening stanza, both Wondergirl and Farrell came out with the same idea – exchange hard low kicks in an attempt to slow down the striking of one another. But it was the Fairtex representative who took control thereafter.
A right cross from Wondergirl swept through the guard of her foe with damaging precision. When she had Farrell backing up, the Thai followed up with three more right hands to send the Australian crashing to the canvas for the first knockdown of the match.
Pleased with her work, Wondergirl shot a smile at the camera as she eagerly waited for Farrell to answer the count.
When the Aussie got back to her feet and the referee called for the action to resume, the Fairtex standout marched forward with a right high kick. She followed that up with a flurry of left and right punches, which sent Farrell to the canvas yet again.
The referee cradled a disappointed Farrell and waved off the action at 1:21 of the first round.
The win nudged Wondergirl’s record to 34-16-2 and announced the Thai as a top contender in the women’s Muay Thai strawweight division.
