Thanh Le To Defend ONE Featherweight World Title Against Tang Kai At ONE 160

MMA fighters Thanh Le and Tang Kai head to the Circle

ONE Featherweight World Champion Thanh Le officially has a date for his next World Title defense.

The Vietnamese-American star will put his coveted belt on the line against #1-ranked contender Tang Kai in the co-main event of ONE 160, which broadcasts live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, August 26.

Since making his promotional debut in May 2019, Le has proven to be an unstoppable force.

The Louisiana resident is riding a five-fight winning streak, holds a 13-2 record, and owns a 100 percent finishing rate with 12 knockouts and one submission.

In his most recent appearance at ONE: LIGHTS OUT this past March, Le successfully defended his ONE Featherweight World Title for the first time by knocking out grappling superstar Garry Tonon in just 56 seconds.

Now, he hopes to extend his reign by taking out the biggest threat to his crown.

Like Le, Tang has been on an absolute tear.

The Chinese phenom owns a 14-2 record, has earned 86 percent of his victories by knockout, and is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak.

Most recently, Tang knocked out the previous #1-ranked contender, South Korea’s Kim Jae Woong, in the first round at ONE X to secure a US$50,000 performance bonus.

Following that highlight-reel win, he jumped on the mic to ask ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong for a World Title shot against Le. Now, that request has been granted.
