Superbon To Defend Kickboxing Crown Against Liu Mengyang At The Inner Circle On May 22
ONE has locked in a monumental World Title bout for The Inner Circle on Friday, May 22, as pound-for-pound striking great Superbon defends his ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship against Chinese sensation Liu “Spirit Dragon” Mengyang.
The showdown broadcasts live in Asia primetime from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, streaming exclusively on live.onefc.com for members only.
Superbon brings a 117-37 career record into his latest title defense. The Superbon Training Camp leader made his promotional kickboxing debut in 2020, securing a solid victory that announced his arrival. His defining moment came in 2021 when he faced Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title.
In that historic bout, a crushing head kick sent Petrosyan crashing to the canvas. As a result, Superbon shocked the striking world and claimed 26 pounds of gold.
Months later, he defended his crown for the first time against Armenian powerhouse Marat Grigorian, dominating the dangerous challenger to secure a unanimous decision.
In January 2023, Superbon suffered a defeat that stripped him of his title. He responded with a spectacular head-kick knockout against Tayfun “Turbine” Ozcan, then defeated Grigorian in a rematch for the ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Title. In January 2025, he was elevated to undisputed ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion.
Last November, Superbon unified the title against interim ruler Masaaki Noiri in the main event of ONE 173, surviving a grueling five-round war to cement his undisputed status.
Known for his head kicks and finishing power, the 35-year-old has proven time and again he can end fights spectacularly against the world’s best.
Now he faces perhaps his most dangerous challenger yet.
Liu represents Shunyuan Fight Club with a 35-7 career record. His ONE journey has been nothing short of extraordinary since his debut.
The challenger debuted on late notice against Noiri in December 2024, shocking fans with world-class striking to secure a decision victory over the established star. He then suffered a close defeat against Mohammad Siasarani before rebounding with a dominant victory over Shadow Mavinn in his next outing.
Liu’s most defining moment came on December 19, 2025, when he demolished ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai with a single leg kick in just 52 seconds in a featherweight kickboxing showdown.
The 23-year-old called out Superbon after that victory, and the undisputed king accepted. On May 22, Superbon’s experience meets Liu’s explosive youth, and both bring finishing power that can end the night in an instant.
