ONE Friday Fights 159 Co-Main Event Result: Denis Dotsenko’s Booming Right Flattens Petgarfield
Denis Dotsenko turned the tables on an aggressive opponent with a pair of perfectly timed counters, stopping Petgarfield Jitmuangnon via knockout at 1:09 of round two in bantamweight Muay Thai action at ONE Friday Fights 159 in Bangkok’s historic Lumpinee Stadium.
Petgarfield came out swinging hard and fast in the first stanza of this Asia primetime battle on Friday, June 19, but he was slightly out of range on his early combinations. The Jitmuangnon Gym product kept pressing and left his guard low during one exchange.
As a result, the Ukrainian standout made him pay, cracking his jaw with a short right counter to drop him for an eight-count. Petgarfield beat the count and saw out the round, looking ready to turn the tide on the Tiger Muay Thai fighter in the second canto.
Dotsenko came out with a clear head in the second as the Thai tracked him around the ring looking to trade. Petgarfield swung wildly in search of the knockout, but the Ukrainian kept fending off traffic until the match-winning moment.
When the guard dropped again in one exchange, Dotsenko timed it perfectly and clipped his chin with another right hand. Petgarfield went down face first, and the referee waved it off.
The finish marked the 25-year-old’s second stoppage in ONE Championship and a timely turnaround after a tough start on the ONE Friday Fights circuit, improving to 11-3.
