ONE Friday Fights 159 Main Event Result: Xavier Gonzalez Hunts Down Chatanan For Stoppage Win
Xavier Gonzalez made it two finishes in the space of a month, stalking Chatanan Sor Jor Joyprajin down and stopping him via knockout at 1:37 of round two in a flyweight Muay Thai bout at ONE Friday Fights 159 inside the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
True to form, the Tor Sangtiennoi product marched forward in the first stanza of this Asia primetime matchup on Friday, June 19, looking for his big left hook. The Spaniard placed his weight on his lead leg each time he unloaded with his trademark tool.
The 22-year-old Apichat Muaythai Gym product picked up on the pattern quickly, though, sending low kicks careening off the Gonzalez’s thighs to punish the habit.
Chatanan came out with crisp boxing in the second frame, but his 24-year-old foe bobbed and weaved behind a tight guard and pelted him with punches in return. In one exchange, Gonzalez came over the top with a right hand that crashed into the Thai’s chin, which sent the latter rolling to the canvas for an eight-count.
The Apichat Muaythai Gym representative rose, but Gonzalez had no intention of letting him recover. He stalked him around the ring, cornered him, and blasted his head and body with shovel hooks until the referee stepped in to bring the matchup to an end.
With back-to-back highlight-reel triumphs, the Spanish dynamo – now on 27 career wins – inches himself closer to a US$100,000 main roster contract.
