Kwon Won Il To Face Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg In Explosive MMA Clash At ONE Fight Night 18

Bantamweight MMA fighters Kwon Won Il and Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg

Two of Asia’s most lethal bantamweight MMA strikers are sure to deliver fireworks at ONE Championship’s first U.S. primetime event of 2024.

Fourth-ranked contender Kwon Won Il will kick off the new year against Mongolian hard-hitter Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg at ONE Fight Night 18 on Prime Video, which broadcasts live on January 12 from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Kwon, who owns 13 career wins and a jaw-dropping 93 percent finishing rate, has been extremely vocal about his desire to rematch ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion Fabricio Andrade.

Since his loss to Andrade in June 2022, “Pretty Boy” has rebounded with thrilling TKO victories over Filipino-Kiwi star Mark “Tyson” Abelardo and #5-ranked contender Artem Belakh.

Another highlight-reel victory would extend his winning streak to three and bring him closer to a World Title shot at the division’s Brazilian kingpin.

But while Kwon possesses the one-punch knockout power to turn off anyone’s lights in an instant, so does his upcoming opponent.

Shinechagtga has moved back and forth between weight classes throughout the years, but now, he appears to be aiming for World Title glory in the bantamweight MMA division.

The 27-year-old Mongolian, who earned a six-figure contract during his time on Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series in 2019, owns seven career victories, with more than half coming via knockout.

Most recently, Shinechagtga bounced back into the win column by edging out battle-hardened veteran Chen Rui via split decision in their three-round war this past September.

On January 12, the entertaining Mongolian will look to earn his second straight victory and leapfrog Kwon in the bantamweight MMA rankings.
