Jackie Buntan, Jihin Radzuan Among Stars Added To All-Women’s ONE Fight Night 20 Card On March 8
Four more thrilling bouts have been added to ONE Fight Night 20: Todd vs. Phetjeeja on Prime Video at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
With the event celebrating International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8, the new matchups feature even more of the greatest female martial artists on the planet, adding to the pair of previously announced Women’s World Title clashes.
In the atomweight MMA division, Malaysian sensation Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan looks to continue her rise when she faces Japan’s Chihiro Sawada.
The #5-ranked contender has won four of her last five outings, only losing a decision to reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex.
Jihin will feel confident after getting back on track with a submission victory over Jenelyn Olsim last September, but unbeaten Sawada is also riding high.
The Shooto Champion with a 6-0-1 record submitted Sanaz Fayazmanesh in her debut at ONE Friday Fights 5 last February, showcasing her high-level wrestling pedigree in that fight.
The other three contests all come in the Muay Thai ranks and feature prominent names in the striking world.
At strawweight, Belarusian veteran Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva meets rising star Martyna Kierczynska in a matchup that will pit Vandaryeva’s elite-level experience against the youthful aggression of her Polish foe.
Despite pushing some of the best competitors in the world to close decisions, “Barbie” has yet to register a win in ONE, and she wants to halt that skid and take a well-earned “W.”
However, with an explosive debut knockout over Nat “Wondergirl” Jaroonsak earlier this month, Kierczynska showed that she has the ferocity to overcome any disadvantage in ring time.
With another quick victory, the 21-year-old would make a massive statement to the rest of her division.
Jackie Buntan takes on Martine “The Italian Queen” Michieletto in a 130-pound catchweight Muay Thai clash that will have huge implications for a possible strawweight World Title shot.
After unsuccessfully fighting for the gold back in April 2022, Buntan has notched back-to-back victories over Amber “AK 47” Kitchen and Diandra Martin. A third could book her a rematch with ONE Women’s Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Smilla “The Hurricane” Sundell.
Michieletto also defeated Kitchen in her promotional debut last June, and she could leapfrog her way above the other contenders by taking out one of the most established competitors in the division.
Finally, Lara “Pizza Power” Fernandez is set to face Yu Yau Pui in an atomweight Muay Thai encounter between two exciting stars.
Fernandez has had a tough run in the world’s largest martial arts organization, facing current two World Champions in “The Queen” Phetjeeja and Janet “JT” Todd in her first four outings, but she’s showcased heart against those vaunted foes.
She’ll surely be pushed to her limit again by Yu, who will be making her U.S. primetime debut following a hot run of 5-0 in ONE Friday Fights throughout 2023 – which included three stoppages.
With Todd and Phetjeeja battling to unify the ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title and Allycia Hellen Rodrigues defending her ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title against Cristina Morales, the March 8 card is stacked with incredible bouts that will showcase the skills of ONE’s leading ladies to the global fan base.
