‘I Love That Kid’ – Liam Harrison Pulling For Savvas Michael In Flyweight Muay Thai Grand Prix

Liam Harrison is pleased after his win at ONE 156

Even after two decades as an elite Muay Thai fighter, Liam Harrison is still a passionate fan of the sport, and he’s especially excited by one competitor in the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix.

Harrison – who recently earned the next challenge of bantamweight Muay Thai king Nong-O Gaiyanghadao – was blown away by Savvas Michael‘s dominant performance against Amir Naseri in the Grand Prix quarterfinals last month.

“Hitman” saw a lot of physical and mental improvements in the Cypriot rising star, and he was full of praise following “The Baby Face Killer’s” unanimous decision victory.

He told ONE Championship:

“Savvas Michael was absolutely incredible. Naseri is no joke, and Savvas made him look like a novice. I thought he was absolutely brilliant.

“He’s leveled up so much. He’s an absolute beast. His mindset, everything, he’s just a killer.”

Despite his big win, Michael is now facing arguably the toughest semifinal opponent in reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

But after such an impressive opening performance, Harrison won’t write off the 23-year-old’s chances to beat “The Iron Man.”

The British legend native thinks “The Baby Face Killer” has the right style to cause problems for Rodtang, and he can’t wait to see how their battle plays out.

The 35-year-old said:

“I’m really looking forward to him and Rodtang because if there’s a foreigner who can beat him at that weight, it is Savvas.

“God knows what’s going to happen in that fight, but as I said, if anyone can beat Rodtang it’s him.”

Two Of Liam Harrison’s Favorites Could Collide In Grand Prix Final

While Liam Harrison is certainly a fan of the new and improved Savvas Michael, he’s also followed Superlek Kiatmoo9 for years and thinks the Thai sensation is one of the greatest Muay Thai practitioners of this era.

Superlek cruised past a tough quarterfinal opponent in Taiki Naito, and Harrison expects more of the same against Brazilian striker Walter Goncalves in the semifinals.

“Hitman” said:

“I love Superlek, he’s one of my favorite fighters ever. I don’t know if we’ll see anyone beat him in that tournament.

“He looks devastating, and I don’t really think he got out of first gear too much against [Naito]. I think Superlek is going to the final, no doubt.”

In Harrison’s ideal scenario, Michael will upset Rodtang and progress to the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix Championship Final against Superlek.

The Englishman wouldn’t bet against Superlek in that matchup, but he thinks “The Baby Face Killer” has the potential to become a true breakout star.

Harrison added:

“Superlek was my [tournament] favorite from the start, although I’d love Savvas to win because, honestly, I love that kid. His dedication, how hard he trains, he’s an absolute machine. And he’s come on so much that I’d love to see him win.”
