Alex Silva Reveals Secret Weapon For Joshua Pacio Bout

Alex Silva at the ONE FIRE & FURY Open Workout

The last time Alex “Little Rock” Silva felt like this before a World Title match, he left the arena carrying the gold.

This Friday, 31 January, the Brazilian will face Joshua “The Passion” Pacio at ONE: FIRE & FURY for the ONE Strawweight World Championship, and he feels he has an x-factor that will give him a little edge in Manila, Philippines.

As he reveals in an exclusive interview on the eve of his main event match-up, Silva feels confident his training has prepared him to win the belt, but there is one thing that he believes will give him an extra boost.

“I will have my family here. My mum and dad will arrive tomorrow,” he says.

“For me, it is a dream come true to see my dad sit [Circleside] and watch me, so it’s definitely a good motivation to make him proud and make him happy.”

Silva’s parents do not make it to Asia for every one of his bouts, but it seems to be a good omen when they do travel from Brazil. As he explains, the last time they made the trip, he put on the performance of his career to claim the ONE Strawweight World Title from Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito.

“At my last title fight [that he won] in Bangkok, my mum was there,” he adds.

“It was the first time ever my mum came to watch and it was an incredible feeling, so I’m looking forward to having the same feeling as last time.”

Check out the full interview to hear more from the challenger, including how he feels about competing on his opponent’s home turf, how he won his way back to this World Title shot, and why fans can look forward to a great match at the Mall Of Asia Arena.
