5 Reasons To Train Martial Arts With Your Loved One

Training martial arts with a loved one can work wonders on your relationship. Not only will you increase your well-being, but you will be building a stronger bond at the same time.

Here are five reasons why you need to train martial arts with that special someone in your life.

#1 Martial Arts Gives You Quality Relationship Time

If you have a hectic schedule, you could find it challenging to make time for your loved one – especially after a busy day, when all you may want to do is zone out in front of an electronic device.

But with most martial arts gyms offering classes throughout the day, why not pick a time that is convenient for you and your loved one and meet at the gym? Then you will be able to make both your physical and mental health – and your relationship – a priority.

“I love training with my family because I believe it gives us a better bond,” says recent ONE Super Series addition John Wayne “The Gunslinger” Parr. “It’s hard to make memories together sitting in front of the television.”

#2 Martial Arts Gives You A Reason To Exercise

We all need exercise, but sometimes it is hard to find the motivation to hit the gym.

However, if you train with your loved one, you will have an instant accountability partner.

After all, they are the ones who know you best, so your usual excuses on why you cannot get to the gym will not cut it with them. It goes both ways, too. You can be their support system as well.

#3 Martial Arts Brings You Closer Together

You never truly get to know someone until you have worked together under pressure. Martial arts puts both you and your loved one under that pressure – in a good way – and you walk away discovering something new about their character.

“I think that training with your significant other can be very beneficial,” says ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee. “You might learn something new about one another, which can strengthen the bond between you two.”

Aside from learning something new about your loved one, the atomweight queen also believes training in martial arts with your loved one can keep both of you emotionally stable.

“Martial arts training is also a great stress reliever,” she says. “Every time you exercise, your body releases endorphins, which causes both of you to be happy.”

Trust Lee. She completely understands this topic. In fact, she first met her future husband, fellow ONE Championship star Bruno Pucci, when the two first trained together at Evolve in Singapore.

#4 Martial Arts Gets You Out Of The House

When tension rises in a relationship, is it because you are spending too much time indoors? Sometimes, the solution is to get out of the house.

If you and your loved one train martial arts together, it will give you the perfect reason to spend time together away from the tedious chores of washing dishes, doing laundry, or maintaining the yard.

#5 Martial Arts Helps You Grow Together

We all want to bring out the best in each other, whether it be in our careers, personal lives, or our love lives. Martial arts is a great way to push yourself and your loved one to that next level.

For ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Stamp Fairtex, dating a fellow titleholder has brought her game to the next level.

“My boyfriend is more accomplished in Muay Thai,” she says about ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon.

“So, it is great that he can teach me Muay Thai techniques and tactics. It’s good that he understands me in regards to training time, getting enough rest, and the pressure.”
