Xiong Jing Nan Admits She Does Feel The Pressure

When she enters the cage to compete, “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan is the picture of composure.

However, the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion admits she does feel the pressure whenever she steps up to defend her belt.

Although she says it is important for her to stay focused so she can maintain her dominant and undefeated run in ONE Championship, there are plenty of thoughts that run through her mind each time she takes on a new challenge.

“I may appear relaxed, but when I’m alone, I do brood over things,” she admits.

“I may think about things like, ‘I’m China’s only martial arts World Champion, I need to preserve my glory and protect my belt.’

“It’s getting more and more difficult because I’m facing tougher and more highly-skilled opponents.”

Despite the pressures that play on her mind, “The Panda” is confident she will defend her belt for the second time against Samara “Marituba” Santos.

They will face each other in the main event of ONE: BEYOND THE HORIZON at the Baoshan Arena in Shanghai, China, on Saturday, 8 September.

Needless to say, she expects to walk out of the stadium with her reign intact.
