About Tawanchai PK Saenchai
After watching some Muay Thai fights in Pattaya, Thailand, when he was 7 years old, Tawanchai PK Saenchai was inspired to learn “the art of eight limbs” and quickly found himself competing in the sport.
He tore up the local scene and eventually made his debut at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium when he was 14. In 2018, Tawanchai won the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Sports Authority of Thailand, and Siam Kela Fighter of the Year awards.
Just three years later, Tawanchai joined ONE in search of his first World Title.
The Pattaya native made a splash in his promotional debut when he knocked out Sean Clancy with a head kick. He then fought multiple-time Kickboxing World Champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in a bout for the ages.
But after he knocked out his close friend, Saemapetch Fairtex, in the first round of their catchweight bout in January 2022, Tawanchai realized he had trouble making the bantamweight limit. That prompted him to move up to featherweight.
In his divisional debut, Tawanchai displayed his firebrand style of fighting. He finished Niclas Larsen with a crisp two-punch combination in the second round.
That dominant win propelled Tawanchai to the biggest opportunity of his career – a shot at longtime ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Petchmorakot Petchyindee, who he dethroned for the belt at ONE 161.
He is set to defend his World Title for the second time in the main event of ONE Fight Night 17 on Prime Video this December 8. There, he faces former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn.
The bout was originally scheduled to headline ONE Fight Night 15 this past October. However, it fell through after Superbon sustained an injury a few weeks before the matchup. The super-fight has been rescheduled for this coming December, restoring all hope that two of the greatest featherweights will finally meet in the ONE ring.
