Just five months into 2018, and Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol already has her third victory of the year.

On Saturday, 12 May, the Indonesian wushu warrior executed a beautiful guillotine choke to finish the Philippines’ Rome “The Rebel” Trinidad in the first round of their atomweight match-up at ONE: GRIT & GLORY.

After a rough start to her ONE Championship career, Gaol retooled her arsenal outside the cage, and came back stoking a new fire to kick off the new year.

Following back-to-back wins, “Thathie” showed a new level of confidence, while feeding off of the energy from a roaring hometown crowd in the Jakarta Convention Center.

Trinidad was fearless in the early going. The Filipina came out looking to show off her striking, but when the opening presented itself, she pushed forward to look for a body lock against the cage.

The change in positions backfired, as Gaol grabbed onto her neck for a guillotine choke, but did not immediately fall into the submission on the ground. Instead, the Jakarta native was patient. She maintained control of the neck until she was able to turn Trinidad towards the cage and torque the submission.

The hold forced “The Rebel” to fall to the ground in an attempt to alleviate the pressure, but Gaol had no intention of letting go until she secured the finish.

A moment later, with the Indonesian tightening her vise-like grip on her, Trinidad was forced to tap. The finish came at 2:27 of the opening round.

A third consecutive victory has made “Thathie” quickly rise into contention at atomweight, and has made a strong case to book a match-up against an established contender in the near future.
