ONE Friday Fights 171 Co-Main Event Result: Mahar Thway Keeps Perfect Record Intact With Gutsy Win Over Petsuphan
Mahar Thway preserved his unbeaten record with a split decision over Petsuphan Lookmuangpet in the strawweight Muay Thai co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 171, which emanated live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, September 18.
The Myanmar debutant hung on the outside in the first frame, using his lead left cross to stitch up Petsuphan from distance. The Thai knew immediately he was in a firefight and pressed forward, forcing his opponent onto the back foot and matching him with superior output to edge the round.

Petsuphan carried on from his last point when action resumed in the second stanza, even cracking Mahar with a right hand so hard that the Myanmarese fighter’s Muay Thai armband flew off. The scrappy Mahar kept his head in the fight, but he was a little too wild as the Thai stayed calm and composed, picking his shots to maintain control.
The 20-year-old, however, flipped the switch in the third, catapulting his right leg into Petsuphan’s head before following up with punches to try and finish the job. The ropes and Petsuphan’s heart kept him upright, and he immediately fired back with an elbow, bit down on his mouthpiece, and went to war for the remainder of the round.
The judges narrowly sided with Mahar, who walked out of the mecca of Muay Thai with a perfect 11-0 record after one of the toughest nights of his career.
