‘Not A Problem’ – Jeremy Miado Plans To Reclaim Top-Five Strawweight Ranking From Danial Williams

Jeremy Miado pounds his chest at ONE X: Part I

Jeremy Miado wants to take back his place in ONE Championship’s official strawweight rankings, and he’ll have the perfect opportunity next Friday, October 21.

“The Jaguar” lost his #5 spot to “Mini T” Danial Williams following the latter’s victory in July, but the two strikers will now square off in a pivotal MMA battle at ONE on Prime Video 3: Lineker vs. Andrade.

Both athletes are riding impressive three-fight winning streaks inside the Circle, although Williams has earned all of those wins during a busy 2022.

Miado believes that momentum was the main reason for the switch. Now, he’ll have the chance to stop his opponent’s rapid rise when they go head-to-head at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Filipino said:

“I guess we can say that he’s just more active than me. Maybe that’s why they decided to put him over me in the rankings. But that’s not a problem for me because now I’ll get to face him. Now what I plan to do is take that ranking back directly from him.”

Williams is a former WMC Muay Thai World Champion who burst into ONE with a thrilling Muay Thai bout against megastar Rodtang Jitmuangnon in April 2021.

Soon after, he switched to MMA and picked up a trio of impressive victories.

Miado certainly recognizes “Mini T” can hang with the striking elite, but he expects to have the upper hand in the all-around sport.

“The Jaguar” said:

“I believe he’s faced a higher quality of opponents when it comes to solely striking, but if we’re going to talk about mixed martial arts, then I believe I’m more experienced than him, and that’s something that I have over him.”

Jeremy Miado Expects Explosive Battle With Fellow Striker Danial Williams

Jeremy Miado and Danial Williams are both high-level strikers, but the Filipino slugger thinks he has some advantages over the Muay Thai stylist.

For starters, “The Jaguar” knows he has the boxing skills to trouble anybody in the strawweight division.

And given his more extensive MMA background, he won’t commit to simply standing and trading if there are better routes to victory.

The 29-year-old said:

“I believe I’m going to have a reach advantage over [Williams] in this fight. I think it works well because my hands are also faster than his, and that combination of reach and speed is something that I can use to my advantage. Don’t get me wrong – he’s got power in his hands, but I think mine are quicker.

“If there’s a chance for me to go for a takedown, and it will be advantageous for me, then I’ll take him down. But if I feel like I’m ahead in the striking, and I feel comfortable, then why would I take him down? I guess it will depend on how the momentum of the match plays out.”

More than anything, Miado expects the high-octane styles of each competitor to produce an exciting matchup – for as long as it lasts, that is.

And just like his opponent, the Filipino is confident that he’ll be the man left standing at the end.

“The Jaguar” added:

“This will be a very good fight. You better not miss this. This one’s going to be a fight between two men who are willing to throw hands. I expect a finish. I’ll end it with either a KO or TKO.”
