Ngoc Phu Nguyen Replaces Ellis Badr Barboza To Face Elmehdi El Jamari At ONE Fight Night 47

A late change has reshaped the ONE Fight Night 47 on Prime Video lineup. ONE Championship confirmed a new opponent for Elmehdi “The Sniper” El Jamari, as unbeaten Vietnamese prospect Ngoc Phu Nguyen steps in to fill the strawweight Muay Thai slot vacated by Ellis “El Jefe” Badr Barboza.

The shift comes after the former ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title challenger was forced to withdraw due to injury. The newly confirmed bout takes place on Friday, September 4, broadcasting live in U.S. primetime from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

El Jamari’s promotional journey has been a rollercoaster. The 29-year-old Barcelona-based Moroccan carries a 27-3 career striking record with 13 finishes into this high-stakes contest.

His promotional debut in April 2025 against Thongpoon PK Saenchai was as eye-catching as any first appearance of that year. “The Sniper” flattened the experienced Thai in under three minutes, announcing himself to the global fanbase as a genuine strawweight threat.

However, two consecutive losses since that debut — against current ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Aliff Sor Dechapan and former two-division, two-sport titleholder Sam-A Gaiyanghadao — have provided instructive lessons.

El Jamari arrives at ONE Fight Night 47 with the urgency of a man who knows a return to the win column is an absolute necessity.

His replacement opponent could prove to be an intriguing wild card.

Nguyen is a 22-year-old Vietnamese fighter from TIMEBOMB MUAY THAI who steps into the ring on September 4 with a perfect 12-0 professional record and the ambition of an athlete ready to make his mark.

This will be his highly anticipated ONE debut, and the opportunity to establish himself in the strawweight Muay Thai division against a proven opponent like El Jamari is one he will be desperate to seize.

A victory over the Moroccan striker would announce the young phenom as a genuine force in the division and open doors that a standard promotional debut rarely provides.
