Almeida is considered a modern-day legend in the grappling world.

The 30-year-old São Paulo, Brazil, native has claimed 13 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, including six in the openweight category – three more than the previous record holder, former ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion Roger Gracie.

Now, Almeida hopes to replicate that magical run in mixed martial arts.

The Brazilian is expected to make his ONE debut in 2021, and he will hold his training camps at Evolve MMA in Singapore.

At ONE, Almeida is joining a division that includes the likes of Arjan “Singh” Bhullar, Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli, Alain “The Panther” Ngalani, recent signee Tom DeBlass, and of course, ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera.
