A matchup between two of the top Muay Thai competitors from the United States is officially heading to U.S. primetime on Friday, February 16.

That evening, Luke “The Chef” Lessei will square off with Eddie “Silky Smooth” Abasolo in an intriguing featherweight battle at ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs. Lobo on Prime Video, which will take place at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Abasolo has competed three times in ONE Championship so far, and every battle has come against high-profile opponents.

The 37-year-old striker from California dropped a unanimous decision to British veteran Liam Nolan in his debut before bouncing back to knock out Niclas Larsen, who came into their contest with the division’s #5 ranking.

That led to a showdown with legendary Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong last June. While Abasolo ultimately lost another unanimous decision, he proved he belongs at the top level by pushing the Thai superstar to the limit in a hard-fought battle.

Meanwhile, Lessei debuted in ONE Championship last December with one of the most thrilling Muay Thai battles of 2023.

At ONE Fight Night 17 on Prime Video, the Iowa native faced off with Thai icon and current #3-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender “Smokin” Jo Nattawut and went toe-to-toe in a wild three-round firefight.

The 27-year-old ended up on the wrong side of a tight unanimous decision that evening, but just like Abasolo, he put the entire division on notice with a gritty and impressive performance.

Both Abasolo and Lessei are setting their sights on the top of ONE’s featherweight Muay Thai division, and one of them can take a big step toward their goal with a pivotal victory on February 16.
