Lineker Out; Malykhin Vs. Grishenko Now Headlines ONE: BAD BLOOD
One of the most heated rivalries in mixed martial arts will have to wait a little longer before it gets settled.
Brazilian star John “Hands of Stone” Lineker was originally scheduled to challenge ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes for the gold in the main event of ONE: BAD BLOOD this Friday, 11 February.
Unfortunately, #1-ranked Lineker was forced to withdraw from the contest due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
Because of this late-breaking development, Fernandes will not compete at ONE: BAD BLOOD either, and the match has been postponed.
The colossal ONE Interim Heavyweight World Title showdown between undefeated mixed martial artists Anatoly “Sladkiy” Malykhin and Kirill Grishenko will now serve as the main event for ONE: BAD BLOOD.
Moving up to the co-main event slot is the crucial flyweight Muay Thai battle between #2-ranked Jonathan “The General” Haggerty and #4-ranked Mongkolpetch Petchyindee.
In addition, the mixed martial arts fight between former ONE Strawweight World Champion Yosuke “The Ninja” Saruta and Cuban Olympic wrestler Gustavo “El Gladiador” Balart has been removed from the show.
Like Lineker, Saruta was forced to withdraw from his scheduled matchup due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
