Arjan Bhullar Vs. Mauro Cerilli Removed From ONE: DAWN OF HEROES

Arjan Bhullar 4

The highly-anticipated heavyweight duel between Indian wrestling sensation Arjan “Singh” Bhullar and Italian mixed martial arts veteran Mauro “The Hammer” Cerilli has been scratched from ONE: DAWN OF HEROES.

The two heavyweights were set to go head-to-head at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines tonight, 2 August, but Cerilli was not medically cleared to compete.

Because athlete safety is of the utmost priority at ONE Championship, the heavyweights will have to wait until Cerilli is medically fit to compete before meeting in the Circle.

Hey guys unfortunately my fight is cancelled. My opponent has a staph infection and wasn't able to get cleared in the medical check. . . I'm very disappointed not to be able to put on a show for all of my fans and loved ones. Was extremely well prepared for this fight and can't thank my team enough for their sacrifices during preparation. The coaches/sparring partners/therapists/specialists etc. It takes an amazing team of people to get me to this point and I will always be grateful to have them in my life. . . Lastly, I'd like to thank the team at @onechampionship for their unbelievable support this week. Every member of the company has been extremely respectful and supportive through this ordeal. My first experience going through fight week with them couldn't have gone better. I can't wait to debut in the near future????????✊???? . . #disappointed #sorry #OnToTheNextOne #DawnOfHeroes #ThrillaInManila #TeamBhullar #OneBillionStrong

Bhullar, an Olympic Games freestyle wrestler, took the news that he would no longer be making his debut in The Home of Martial Arts with dignity.

“I’m very disappointed not to be able to put on a show for all of my fans and loved ones,” Bhullar said in a recent Instagram post. “[I] was extremely well prepared for this fight and can’t thank my team enough for their sacrifices during preparation.”

“Singh,” however, still looks forward to showing his wrestling pedigree in ONE.

“Every member of [ONE] has been extremely respectful and supportive through this ordeal,” the former Olympian said. “My first experience going through fight week with them couldn’t have gone better. I can’t wait to debut in the near future.”
