Anybody, Anywhere, Anytime: 3 Moments John Lineker Proved He Is Martial Arts’ Ultimate Warrior
When it comes to competing on ONE Championship’s global stage, few competitors embody the pure, unadulterated spirit of combat quite like John “Hands of Stone” Lineker.
Armed with unbridled knockout power and a titanium chin, the former ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion has built a terrifying reputation for himself by separating world-class opponents from their consciousness.
But beyond his legendary fists, the 35-year-old Brazilian possesses a rare, old-school mentality: when the promotion calls, he steps up to the plate regardless of the rule set, the weight class, or even the timeline.
Fans will get to witness this uncompromising warrior spirit once again when Lineker faces British striker Ben Woolliss in a featherweight kickboxing clash at ONE Fight Night 41: Sinsamut vs. Jarvis on Prime Video, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, March 13.
Before “Hands of Stone” trades leather with Woolliss, we look back at three unforgettable moments that cemented his legacy as a man willing to fight anybody, anywhere, anytime.
Shocking The World In ‘The Art Of Eight Limbs’
While it is incredibly common for elite Muay Thai fighters and kickboxers to eventually transition into mixed martial arts, the reverse is almost unheard of. MMA fighters rarely step into the world of pure striking, let alone at the highest level.
But Lineker did it without blinking.
Venturing into uncharted territory, the Brazilian powerhouse shocked the global fan base in his Muay Thai debut against heavily favored striker “The American Ninja” Asa Ten Pow at ONE 168: Denver in September 2024.
Proving that his catastrophic punching power translates flawlessly to “the art of eight limbs,” Lineker mauled Ten Pow into oblivion. He swung wildly and without abandon, eventually scoring a breathtaking second-round knockout. That fight marked Lineker’s arrival as a legitimate Muay Thai threat.
Just a month later, at ONE Fight Night 25, he doubled down on his striking success and was craving even more action.
Squaring off against 32-year-old Russian hard-hitter Alexey Balyko, a man widely considered to be as dangerous as they come in the Muay Thai ranks, Lineker delivered another striking masterclass.
It was an epic performance for “Hands of Stone,” who put his dynamite punching power on full display that evening. Through sheer force of will, he silenced his doubters and stopped the Russian in the very first round, proving that his fists are the ultimate equalizer.
Going Toe-To-Toe With Kickboxing Royalty
Never one to rest on his laurels, Lineker took his “anybody, anywhere, anytime” philosophy a step further when he accepted a fight against former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Hiroki Akimoto at ONE 172.
Stepping into yet another foreign rule set, the MMA veteran found himself in the ring with one of the most technical Japanese kickboxers of this generation. But instead of being outclassed, Lineker turned the bout into an absolute war of attrition. He absorbed Akimoto’s signature combinations and constantly marched forward to land his heavy, trademark hooks.
Though the judges ultimately awarded a razor-thin split decision to the Japanese star after three grueling rounds, Lineker left the Saitama Super Arena feeling he had done more than enough to win.
Regardless of the official result, going the distance with a former Kickboxing World Champion proved that “Hands of Stone” belongs at the pinnacle of any discipline he chooses to enter.
Stepping Out Of The Shadows And Into The Fire

Perhaps the most defining moment of Lineker’s career didn’t start in a locker room, but in the bleachers.
In January 2024, at the historic ONE 165 in Tokyo, the event faced a sudden crisis when Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki’s scheduled opponent withdrew just moments before they were set to enter the ring.
Without a replacement, the match was going to be pulled from the card entirely. However, fans and officials alike soon spotted Lineker casually sitting in the crowd, watching the event as a spectator.
Sensing an opportunity, ONE Championship approached the Brazilian right then and there, offering him the fight. Without a second thought, Lineker accepted. Officials drew up a contract backstage, and within minutes, the Brazilian mauler was suited up, taped, and ready to compete.
Adding to the absolute madness of the situation, the openweight bout was against the former ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion, who competed two full divisions above Lineker’s natural weight class.
Although the legendary grappler ultimately submitted him, the outcome was entirely secondary.
By stepping out of the crowd and into the fire on an hour’s notice against a much larger opponent, the Brazilian authored a surreal moment that will live forever in combat sports lore.
Lineker operates on a completely different frequency than the rest of the martial arts world. Relying on his unbreakable toughness and devastating power, he is a fighter who simply wants to put on a show for the fans.
It is this fearless ethos that makes his upcoming featherweight kickboxing clash with Ben Woolliss at ONE Fight Night 41 absolute must-watch television.
