Murad Ramazanov

Murad Ramazanov hopes to become the ONE Welterweight World Champion, and there’s no doubt that the Russian athlete is well on his way there.

Born in Makhachkala, Russia, Ramazanov spent his time after school sweating it out alongside like-minded kids on the mats. Those early sessions helped the motivated youngster to develop a strong base in martial arts, and that would become pivotal as he entered his teenage years.

He continued to grind and soon, success followed at wrestling tournaments nationwide. During that time, however, Ramazanov picked up an interest in MMA after watching one of his martial arts idols, Marat “Cobra” Gafurov, ply his trade in the featherweight division of ONE Championship.

As soon as he made the switch to the all-encompassing sport, Ramazanov’s talent was pretty evident. His tremendous knowledge of wrestling helped him pick up new skills without much trouble. In February 2014, he turned professional and earned a unanimous decision victory. Just a year later, Gafurov claimed the ONE Featherweight World Title, and that convinced Ramazanov that the world’s largest martial arts organization was the next step in his MMA career.

The young Russian worked extremely hard. After going on an 8-0 run, ONE Championship turned his dream into a reality. He was an instant hit, earning a first-round TKO over Bae Myung Ho in his promotional debut in February 2020.

In his sophomore appearance, Ramazanov earned a win over Pancrase Champion Hiroyuki Tetsuka. His most recent triumph came against former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam in December 2021.

With an 11-0 career record and a three-fight winning streak in ONE Championship, Ramazanov takes on his toughest test to date in two-division KSW Champion Roberto Soldic at ONE on Prime Video 5 on December 2. Another victory would surely set him on course for welterweight glory next.
