Fight Nights Grand Prix Finalist Movlid Khaibulaev is from the Russian province of Dagestan, known for producing tough wrestlers, combat sambo practitioners, and top mixed martial artists. Khaibulaev began training in freestyle wrestling and combat sambo, winning a number of regional titles in both sports. He also won an amateur cage title while attending the Russian Law Academy in Makhachkala, Dagestan’s capital.
After making his professional mixed martial arts debut in October 2011, he rattled off 10 straight victories in top Russian promotions, finishing his opponent in five of them. It comes as no surprise, given he trains with some of the best athletes in the world, such as former ONE Featherweight World Champion Marat Gafurov and bantamweight contender Yusup Saadulaev, under Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father of the internationally-renowned Khabib Nurmagomedov.
This stellar record earned him a place on ONE Championship’s stacked featherweight division, and is one of the most highly-touted athletes on the roster. He made his promotional debut at ONE: THRONE OF TIGERS in winning fashion, and is proud to represent Dagestan on the global stage.
