Russian rising star Ilya Freymanov is looking to showcase his skills on the global stage of ONE Championship.
The talented fighter grew up as an MMA fan and always enjoyed watching athletes who were good on their feet. As such, he focused on developing his stand-up repertoire and even traveled to Thailand, where he spent time training at top gyms like Kombat Group Pattaya and Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket.
But after competing in a few Muay Thai and kickboxing matches, the Russian made his professional MMA debut in 2014.
Representing the Kuznya Fight Club from his hometown of Krasnodar, Freymanov patterned his fighting style to what he enjoyed while watching the sport during his childhood – creative and absolutely dangerous striking. He has competed in various promotions across Russia, displaying his stand-up wizardry and claiming knockouts in 8 of his 10 wins.
After winning his last three bouts via knockout, Freymanov earned the opportunity to challenge the best MMA fighters on the planet in ONE Championship. He signed with the world’s largest martial arts organization in 2022, and at 26 years old, he is rapidly approaching his prime.
The young warrior aims to find success on the global stage in hopes of inspiring the next generation of martial artists with his own brand of fighting. Freymanov looks to get the ball rolling against former two-division ONE World Champion Martin Nguyen at ONE on Prime Video 2 this September 30.
