‘Won’t Go The Distance’ – Kaotaem Promises Destructive Finish Against Xavier Gonzalez At The Inner Circle Main Event
Despite his time away, Kaotaem Fairtex always felt close to the bright lights of Bangkok’s fabled Lumpinee Stadium.
Now, on Friday, April 3, the 21-year-old fan favorite takes on Spain’s Xavier Gonzalez in the flyweight Muay Thai main event of The Inner Circle, broadcasting live in Asia primetime.
Kaotaem wasted no time making his mark in ONE. After dropping his promotional debut, he bounced back with three straight wins, capped by a vicious third-round TKO over Tuanthong Paesaisi at ONE Friday Fights 105.
Just as his career hit its stride, life intervened.
A back injury forced him to the sidelines, and rather than rush his return, the Road to ONE Champion chose to prioritize his studies. He is now in the final year of the Faculty of Education at Thailand National Sports University.
He told onefc.com:
“I’m 100 percent ready. I don’t have any injuries. I did have a bit of a back issue when I first got back into training for a scheduled fight, so I had to take a break to get it treated. But that’s all cleared up now. I’m feeling great.
“Even though I’ve been away from the ring, I’ve been training the whole time. I’ve been itching to fight, but last year I really had to put my education first to get everything sorted.”

The layoff never meant standing still. Despite the demands of university life, Kaotaem never stopped training or searching for ways to improve.
The time away gave him perspective. He took an honest look at his game and did not shy away from what he found.
He said:
“I’ve been constantly leveling up my technique, sharpening my punches, knees, and elbows. Fans usually tell me I fight well, have great cardio, and throw a lot of volume, but they also say I’m still lacking in defense.
“My guard has been a bit loose in the past, so I’ve been working hard on staying tucked in and not dropping my hands. For this fight, I’ve also built up more durability; I’m not going down easily if I take a hit.”
Facing Gonzalez adds an extra layer of intrigue to Kaotaem’s return.
The Spaniard is relentless, aggressive, and dangerous with both hands, and the Phetchabun native knows a firefight is almost guaranteed. That prospect only motivates him further.
Kaotaem has thrived in high-pressure exchanges throughout his career and respects the challenge Gonzalez presents. Backing down has never been part of his makeup:
“Fighting a foreigner again is a cool challenge. He’s got a very aggressive style. From the clips I’ve seen, he’s strong, loves to move forward, and has heavy hands.
“His punch is definitely his biggest weapon. But I’m a fighter who never gives up easily.”
Kaotaem Ready To Meet Gonzalez’s Fire With Fire
Physical readiness is only half the equation. Kaotaem Fairtex has spent this camp building a sharp game plan alongside his coaches at the Pattaya-based Fairtex Training Center.
Patience and timing form the foundation of his blueprint against everything Gonzalez brings.
He said:
“My plan is to find the right timing to counter his punches with elbows. I’ll start off a bit more defensive, feel him out first, and see what kind of rhythm he brings before I start countering.
“I think my kicks will be key to neutralizing his weapons because I’ve been working on my kicking game a lot for this camp.”
Kaotaem has never been a fighter who grinds his way to victory, and nothing about this return changes that.
He has always given the Bangkok faithful something to cheer about, and April 3 is the moment he reminds everyone exactly what he is capable of.
He steps back into the ring with everything to gain:
“There’s a high chance this won’t go the distance, but I can’t say which round — it depends on the flow of the fight. If I see an opening to end it, I’m taking it immediately. I’ve already bagged two bonuses, and I’d love a third.
“A four-fight winning streak is the goal. I don’t feel pressured, I’m just going to give it my all. I’ve been preparing for this for a long time, and I’ve missed being in there.”
