‘More Well-Rounded Than Him’ – Mehrdad Khanzadeh Ready To Go All-Out Against Kongchai At ONE Friday Fights 148

Mehrdad “Black Wolf” Khanzadeh carries a name that translates from ancient Persian as “a gift from the sun” and, inside the ring, the 24-year-old is beginning to reflect that intensity.

The Iranian striker returns to headline ONE Friday Fights 148 against Kongchai Chanaidonmueang in a strawweight Muay Thai clash on March 27 live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.

The Sor Dechapan standout will look to impose his trademark forward pressure, with both men chasing a coveted US$100,000 main-roster contract with ONE.

He said:

“I’m very happy to be back here again and ready to go all out.

“My confidence mainly comes from my belief in my training. I train very hard and focus on every detail with my teammates. Training and sparring regularly with skilled fighters in the gym has put my body in great condition. That allowed me to absorb the strikes and stay composed enough to come back.”

Khanzadeh has built his reputation steadily across the weekly series. He made an immediate impression at ONE Friday Fights 40, unleashing heavy punches from the opening bell to secure a unanimous decision over Yangdam Jitmuangnon.

A narrow decision loss to Pichitchai PK Saenchai slowed that momentum, but he found his footing again at ONE Friday Fights 125 last September, going toe-to-toe with Kritpet PK Saenchai in a firefight that saw both men hit the canvas.

“Black Wolf” edged the contest by split decision to return to the win column.

That ability to recover, adjust, and push through adversity has become a defining part of his rise. A win outside the promotion further sharpened his form ahead of this main event opportunity.

He said:

“Recently, I had a fight [outside of the organization] against a Moroccan opponent, and I won. That victory gave me a lot of energy and confidence. It made me feel hopeful and fully ready for this upcoming fight.”

Khanzadeh Explains His Edge Against Kongchai

At ONE Friday Fights 148, Mehrdad Khanzadeh faces his toughest test yet against one of the most experienced competitors in the weekly series.

Kongchai’s rhythm, timing, and left kick have troubled many opponents, but Khanzadeh believes his broader skill set will make the difference. He has identified a weakness he intends to exploit.

He said:

“I believe I’m more well-rounded than him, especially in terms of my punches and kicks. As for Kongchai, I think his main strength is his powerful left kick.”

With 22 professional victories, Khanzadeh has built his game around pressure and power, a style that naturally clashes with Kongchai’s more measured approach.

Rather than overthink the moment, “Black Wolf” is trusting the same formula that has carried him through adversity before: preparation, composure, and forward intent.

He said:

“I’m 100 percent confident. Thank you very much for the support, and I’ll see you in the ring.”
