Supergirl Scores 60-Second KO In History-Making Debut
Supergirl Jaroonsak Muaythai became the youngest person to compete in ONE Super Series on Friday, 11 September – and she delivered a performance worthy of the historic occasion.
The 16-year-old marvel quickly ripped through Argentinian striker Milagros Lopez, knocking her out in 60 seconds during their 53.7 Muay Thai catchweight affair at ONE: A NEW BREED II from Bangkok, Thailand.
When the opening bell rang at ONE: A NEW BREED II, the two fighters immediately exchanged in the pocket. Supergirl scored first with a powerful jab-cross combination, but the Argentinian Muay Thai Champion quickly responded with a low kick to the lead thigh.
That didn’t seem to phase the Jaroonsak Muaythai representative, however, as she continued to fearlessly walk down her South American foe with jabs and crosses.
Lopez attempted to flip the script, as she looked to pressure with kicks, looping punches, and a slew of elbows.
But Supergirl grabbed her for a clinch and, after eating a few knees to her own ribs, unloaded her trademark spear knee that sent the Argentine into the ropes.
Just 25 seconds into the contest, the teenage sensation timed Lopez’s right kick and fired off a straight right hand, which sent her shorter adversary tumbling to the canvas.
The Argentine quickly returned to her feet to answer the referee’s eight-count, but the fight did not last much longer.
When the action resumed, the two competitors exchanged a variety of strikes in the pocket and simultaneously landed jabs that sent each other’s heads back.
As that happened, Supergirl finished her combination with a devastating right cross to the chin, instantly dropping Lopez to the canvas for good.
The debut was a star-making performance for the Thai striker, who moved her professional record to 38-5-1 and became the newest phenom to watch in ONE Super Series.
